I would like to start off this journal with a bit of gushing. Recently, I came across the works of a certain mangaka that I cannot get enough if. Hakase Mizuki has to have one of the single most appealing art styles that I have ever seen. She uses almost no screentones in her newer works, relying of the pureness of the blank spaces to fill in the emotion and shadows of her art. Her characters are tall and lanky, and they all have such beautiful depth and personalities. I cant' get enough of them. In her earlier works, it is difficult to distinguish whether a character is female or not, but it is rather refreshing to see an artist who doesn't focus in on giving her females overly large breasts.

Now, her stories are all rather tragic, but she weaves them wonderfully. You really get to know and feel for the characters, and I was almost pushed to tears in certain instances when bad situations arose for them. Her stories range from slice of life troubled teens to demons roaming in the human world. All of her stories really draw me in, and I find all of her worlds to be exciting and believable. If you are interested in her works, TOKYOPOP has published three of them; The Demon Ororon, Kuruizaki no Hana, and Asian Beat. I recommend all three.

So, the job is going well. I think it's going to be a good fit for me, and the hours are not going to be to heavy, either. A nice change from the fast food joint I was working at a year ago.
